Our Team

The Norwich Arts Council (NAC) is an entirely volunteer run organization administered by some very hard-working and dedicated people from our Board of Directors, Artists’ Co-operative, and other members of the community who have taken on responsibilities in a number of areas.

Our Office

From booking performers to box office sales, from PR to general office coordination, our office volunteers help keep the operations of the council up and running. NAC is also conducting a cultural needs assessment as a Local Arts Agency for the region through a grant from the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism. Our LAA Administrator, Karen Beasley, has been hard at work on this project.

Committees

Many other efforts—from theater production to gallery administration, fundraising to marketing—are carried out by committee. The committees are also comprised entirely of volunteers, and some of these volunteers have accepted leadership roles in these endeavors.

Karen Beasley - Programming Chair
Donna Jewell - Fundraising Chair
Dee Keaney - Membership Chair; Volunteer Chair
Thom Keaney - Theater Co-Chair
Joe Matovic - Publicity/Marketing Chair
Sue Parish - NAC Artists’ Cooperative President
Christine Shogren - Theater Co-Chair

These folks keep the gallery running, make the theater productions and concerts happen, obtain the financial support to keep our doors open, and get the word out to the public.

Other Support

Other projects sponsored by NAC include the Norwich Cultural Arts and History Project (NCAHP) and the Norwich Community Cinema (NCC), which run independently from the NAC office by yet another group of dedicated volunteers. Elanah Sherman helms the NCAHP and Andrew Harvey acts as liaison to the NCC.

There are many people who support us through donating their valuable time, hard work, excellent ideas and determined passion for local arts. We want to thank each and every one of them for the generosity of their many talents.
