Mark Patnode’s recent exhibit reflects work inspired by his involvement in a two-week residency program with the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Cape Verde, Africa. While working with fellow visual artists educating students on Cape Verdean culture and history, Patnode found the opportunity to develop his own art in response to the program and his time in the African archipelago through drawings, watercolors and photographs. While bringing his experiences from Cape Verde to Norwich through this work, Patnode also hopes to inspire support to continue the program in 2010 despite the current challenges of the economy.
