The Norwich Arts Center presents: Recent Prints and Drawings by artist Bethany Bonner at the NAC Gallery from Wednesday, March 30th  to Saturday, April 30th.   An Opening Reception for the exhibit will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 6:00 – 8:00pm.  Derived from the seminal image of the spiral, this series of prints and drawings explores the essence of flight, movement and energy.

Working in a variety of media, Bonner’s work shifts between representational and non-representational images, allowing for multiple levels of visual narrative.  The prints are intimate in size and retain a more personal feeling, while the drawings reflect a feeling of the immensity of space.

“I am captivated by the beauty of linear movement as it is processed through drawing, printing and redrawing,” Bonner says of her work.  “Each inking of the plate expresses an expanded idea of energy in motion. The simplification of movement through line and shape provokes an ever-widening dialog between the intimate and infinite.”

First Friday Opening Receptions in the NAC Gallery are free to the public with refreshments available.  Receptions are a great opportunity to meet the artists.  And don’t forget to visit NAC Gallery Too! next door, featuring various local artists year round in a gift-shop style environment.  Gallery hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12noon to 4pm for both galleries.  For more info call the NAC Gallery at 860-887-2789 or visit their website at www.norwicharts.org.
