The NAC Gallery

NAC gallery The Norwich Arts Center Gallery was established in 1987 by local artists and art supporters—some of whom formed the NAC Artists' Cooperative—to both create a local art space and invest in the potential of Downtown Norwich. NAC leased and renovated the ground floor at 60 Broadway, formerly a part of St. Mary’s Abstinence and Benevolence Building, which was constructed in 1892 and purchased by NAC in 1995.

The NAC Gallery is now the longest on-going cooperative gallery in southeastern Connecticut. We hold both solo and group shows, including the work of both present and past NAC Cooperative members. Exhibitions rotate every month. Annual shows include the juried community Photo Show, the Connecticut Women Artists show, the juried Artistic Wanderings exhibit, and the very popular Holiday Show (formerly known as 6x6). Other events have included A Life in Stone: The Cape Verdean Stone Masonry Tradition in Norwich and Distances Traveled: The Immigrant Experience in Collage, both sponsor by The Norwich Cultural Arts & History Project.

Admission to the NAC Galleries is free and open to the public on Wednesday through Saturday from 12-4 PM. Opening Receptions are held on the First Friday of every month from 6-8 PM and are also free, with refreshments, a chance to meet the artists and sometimes even some live music.
