Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze

Tuesday, Sept. 20 2026 — 7:30 pm

Formed in 1990 by Wally “Sweet Daddy” Greaney, the Chicago-style boogie and blues band Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze toured Europe and the United States for two decades before taking a ten-year hiatus due to family obligations. Now, thankfully, they are back with, if possible, an even sweeter and cooler sound.

Through the years, Sweet Daddy has recorded and/or performed with Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, James Cotton, Matt Guitar Murphy, Junior Wells, Taj Mahal, and Bo Diddley, to name a few.

If you’ve seen and heard Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze before their hiatus, you know that you can expect an exciting, high-energy performance from start to finish that few bands can match. With Sweet Daddy’s smoking lead vocals, full-bodied harp, soulful sax, and the explosive guitar of Tommy Whalen, along with a tight rhythm section, it can be nothing less.

If this will be your first time experiencing Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze, hold on tight because you’re about to be blown away by one sweet cool breeze. You’ll be sure to be echoing the words of the 82-year-old trucker whose phrase gave rise to the band's name: Lawd have mercy, Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze is in town.
